A Crash Course In Stress

For those of you unable or lacking in the desire to watch this video, here is the overall gist of what was said.

1. Our environment, the people we surround ourselves with, or even the plan itself, affects our mood and emotions. We are constantly reading people's facial expressions which even affects our expressions which change the way we feel. Studies have shown that even the act of smiling can elevate our mood.

2. Positivity ad negativity have a stronger impact on us than one might suspect. Studies have shown that people who have a positive outlook on life tend to live longer.

3. There are 10 distinct human emotions: joy, contempt, surprise, shame, sadness, fear, anger, guilt, disgust, and excitement. These emotions fall on a spectrum of how we perceive them.

4. Stress can strike suddenly or build slowly and is a reaction to a stimulus that results from our appraisal of something. Stress can occur from many things such as catastrophes, death, or everyday inconveniences. In small amounts it helps to focus, heal wounds, or motivate. However, too much can create problems with the digestive, respiratory,circulatory, and immune systems.
